DIY: Bath Bombs

Hello, lovelies! I have a fun post today on DIY bath bombs. This winter I have discovered my love for taking baths. I used to only take showers, but my body was aching this winter so I wanted to use some Epsom salts. To make my bath fun, I did some research on how to make my own bath bombs.

I’ve made bath bombs a few times now. The first time I followed the exact recipe I found online, but as I kept on making them I’ve changed it up a bit. I’ve learned that the main ingredients for making bath bombs are Baking Soda and Citric Acid. These are the ones that create the fizzing.

Many recipes use the same amount of Citric Acid and Corn Starch, but I’ve found that by decreasing the amount of Corn Starch the bath bombs would fizz more. Also, just add the right amount of oil. Try not to add too much, since that would affect the fizzing as well. Other than wanting the bath bombs to frizz, adding Epsom salt is important as well. Epsom salt has so many benefits for the body. These are the things that I’ve learned through my experience of making bath bombs. I hope these tips will help you.

I used to not care so much about taking baths but I realized it’s not just for pampering, it’s important for the body as well. Like I’ve mentioned earlier body aches, well it really does help with that. I don’t know what about you, but sometimes I would have back pain before and during that time of the month. Then there’s also the cramps as well. And guess what, taking a hot bath will relieve the pain. Not only that, but there are other benefits:

  • Relieves pains and cramps
  • Reduces stress
  • Promotes better sleep
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Reduces migraine

Easy DIY Bath Bombs!

DIY: Bath Bombs


  1. A Whisk
  2. Two bowls (one large and small)
  3. Measuring cups
  4. Bath bombs mold
  5. 1/2 Tablespoon
  6. Teaspoon
  7. Any spoon (to mix the wet ingredients)
  8. Spray bottle with water in it.
  9. Gloves (optional)


DIY: Bath Bombs

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/3 corn starch
  • 1/4 cup Epsom salts

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 Tsp essential oil
  • A few drops of food coloring or colorant

  • Dried flowers



  1. Mix all the dry ingredients ( baking soda, citric acid, corn starch, and salt) in a large bowl and use a whisk to mix it. DIY: Bath Bombs
  2.  Next mix all the wet ingredients together (coconut oil, essential oil, and food coloring)  in a small bowl. How many drops of food coloring depends on how dark or light you want the color of the bath bomb to be.
  3. Then combine the wet and dry ingredients together slowly. One spoon at a time! Keep whisking it and use your hands even, because it can be difficult to mix. You can use a mixer, but be careful of making a mess since the dry ingredients can go everywhere.

  4. After you’re done combining the ingredients, then spray in some water while mixing it. Just keep spraying in the water slowly until it feels like wet sand. It can’t be too dry or wet! DIY: Bath Bombs
  5. Now is the time to add the dried flowers, if you wish to do so. I usually add a small amount at the bottom of the mold, then some more in the middle. You can skip this step if you don’t want to clean up the bathtub. DIY: Bath Bombs
  6. Pack the mixture into the molds. Pack tightly! DIY: Bath Bombs
  7. Then press the two molds together tightly. Don’t twist, just press. DIY: Bath Bombs
  8. Let the bath bomb stays in the molds for a few minutes before you carefully and slowly remove the molds by gently tapping on it to release the bath bomb.DIY: Bath Bombs
  9. Let the bath bombs dry overnight. Make sure to keep them out of direct sunlight.
  10. I would suggest wrapping the bath bombs with plastic wrap to store them after you have let them dry over night. DIY: Bath Bombs
  11. Twist the wrap at the end,  tape it, and cut off the excess wrap at the end. That’s it!

  12.  If you want to be a bit fancy then wrap the bath bomb with craft ribbon (I think that’s what they’re called..) and tie it with a small ribbon. DIY: Bath BombsEasy simple DIY Bath Bombs
